About
My name is Romy (Ro-mi) Keuwo (Co-woah) and I am a speech-language pathologist who resides in Chicago. I feel very privileged to be able to have this platform to share my passion for this field and I look forward to the possibility of collaborating with one another. I am extending my warm regards to you as we share in community. I was born in Moscow, Russia to first-generation Cameroonian-Americans. However, I consider myself a Kansas native (Go Chiefs!) and graduated with my bachelor's and master’s from the University of Kansas. My experiences have given me the opportunity to work with a variety of populations, including PreK-12 in the public, charter, private school setting, and adults in the home health. I also have experience in working with adults with Dementia, Parkinson's Disease, dysphagia, Aphasia, articulation disorders, social pragmatic disorders, Autism, Down-Syndrome, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. What I want you all to know about me is that I belong to the small 3% minority of speech-language pathologists that identify as Black or African-American. I do not take this duty lightly and I am truly honored to contribute my enthusiasm, culture, and optimism with you all. Working in this field is truly a privilege. It is such a joy to watch those I serve grow and learn, and to become the best they can be. My favorite part is seeing clients find the confidence and pride in realizing that they’ve achieved something new. I look forward to the possibility of working together to help enhance you or your loved one's communication skills.
My Approach
Romy Keuwo is a trilingual (English, French, and Spanish) Cameroonian Speech-Language Pathologist, who currently resides in Chicago, Illinois. His greatest motivation for pursuing a career speech-language pathology has always been building community through speech and language. Driven by a commitment to equitable access, Romy seeks opportunities to help bridge the gap between service delivery, time constraints, and geographic limitations. His experience has underscored the critical need for students to receive their mandated Individualized Education Program (IEP) speech-language therapy without the constraints of in-person sessions, particularly amidst the ongoing shortage of speech-language pathologists. He can also attest to the ease telehealth practice brings to children and adults seeking speech-language therapy, if or when in-person services are unfeasible. Romy is deeply passionate about serving diverse populations within Illinois and eagerly seeks collaborative partnerships to expand access to high-quality speech-language services for those in need.
